Hiking around lake Spitzingsee
|
backThe countryside around the lake Spitzingsee with its lush alps and many easy to conquer summits is a hiker’s paradise. Easy walks, hikes over the alms or climbs up steep mountainsides - everybody can find his or her perfect trail. The Taubenstein cable car, the Stümpfling and Sutterbahn chair lifts transport the hikers into the surrounding mountain area with its more than ten summits.
The Wendelstein, Bavaria's best known mountain, famous for its wonderful view, is situated east of the lake Spitzingsee, separated only by a valley. There are two ways to get to the top of the mountain: a more than 100 year old rack railway or a cable car bring you to the alpine hiking area. The region between Wendelstein and Spitzing also offers a large number of hiking tours and more than 50 alpine huts where you can take a rest.
To the west of Spitzingsee lies the hiking area of the Tegernsee Mountains with the Risserkogel as highest peak. A multitude of hiking trails surround the lake. To get to the summit easily and enjoy a beautiful view of the Tegernsee valley you can use the Wallberg cable car in Rottach-Egern.
